The Cancervants-Iloilo and the University of San Agustin NSTP-CWTS CLASE 1A recently hosted “Pagpasimpalad: A Support Project for Pediatric Cancer Patients” at SM Delgado on Valeria Street, bringing joy and hope to 18 children battling cancer.
The event featured games and an art session led by Mr. Hersely Casero, whose ‘Laughing Boy’ artwork inspired the children to showcase their resilience and spirits.
Reycard Tomulto, the chapter head of Cancervants-Iloilo, shared the impetus behind the initiative with Daily Guardian.
“We wanted to create a day full of joy, support, and creative expression for children courageously fighting cancer. It’s about giving them a chance to experience the simple pleasures of childhood,” Tomulto said.
Student volunteers guided the children in using Casero’s ‘Laughing Boy’ as a medium for self-expression.
“Seeing the smiles and laughter and witnessing new bonds form was a poignant reminder that compassion and community can triumph over adversity,” Cancervants-Iloilo shared in a social media post.
The event was not only a day of fun for the children but also provided a network of support for families navigating the complexities of pediatric cancer.
