The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has announced a grand reward for Filipino athletes who will clinch gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics: a house and lot.

POC president Abraham Tolentino reiterated the committee’s commitment to honoring the country’s top sports achievers, citing the previous Tokyo Olympics’ rewards.

“Our athletes who reach the pinnacle in Paris will be rightfully rewarded for their commitment and patriotic spirit,” Tolentino declared, referencing the valuable incentives given to Olympic medalists like Hidilyn Diaz and others who received similar rewards after the Tokyo games.

The incentives are supported by the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, guaranteeing P10 million for Olympic gold medalists in individual events. Currently, at least ten Filipino athletes are set to participate in the Summer Games scheduled for July.

Adding to the fervor, Cignal has announced plans for a 13-part mini-series to document the journey of the Filipino athletes to Paris, starting from their preparations in the French city of Metz. This series aims to showcase the athletes’ rigorous training and their stories of perseverance and dedication leading up to the world’s most prestigious sporting event.

The POC has secured the use of sports facilities in Metz, with arrangements for accommodations and meals for the qualifiers, through an agreement with La Moselle President Patrick Weiten.

Cignal is also in the advanced stages of negotiations to secure broadcast rights for the Games, aiming to deliver the thrill and achievements of Filipino athletes across digital and traditional broadcasting platforms.

Jane Basas, President and CEO of MediaQuest and Cignal TV, expressed a reinforced commitment to supporting Filipino athletes and the POC, promising comprehensive coverage of their endeavors and triumphs.

The gesture by the POC and the support from media partners like Cignal reflects a robust ecosystem backing Filipino athletes, aiming to elevate their morale and support their pursuit of international glory.
