In celebration of the Linggo ng Kabataan (Youth Week) that focuses on empowering the youth, the Local Government Unit of Passi City, the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation and the Local Youth Development Council of Passi City held a series of activities and competitions from August 20 to September 25, 2021.
The event kicked-off on August 20 with a simultaneous Tree Planting activity in the 51 barangays of Passi City headed by Sangguniang Kabataan and youth organizations.
On September 11, 8:30 AM – 4 PM, a virtual painting competition entitled “Spectrum: Through the Looking Glass” was held to showcase the creative passion of Passinhon young artists.
On September 17, 8:30 AM to 12 PM, the judging for the short film competition entitled “Kapit: Dapit-hapon sa Panibagong Umaga” was held at Passi City College. Seven short films produced by young breed of filmmakers were judged by a distinct board of judges such as Leonard Tejada, Merlyn Zolina, Ennis Albert Pareja, Brian Adrian Camposagrado, and Ronelo Ladiao.
On September 18, 3 PM, the winners of the short film competition was announced through a culminating activity. The Best Short Films are (Category A) “Paglagas sa Aso” (1st Place), “Hinungdan” (2nd Place), “Sinag” (3rd Place); (Category B) “Haklo, Buga, Piyong” (1st Place), “Agus” (2nd Place).
The Best Director were bagged by Arvin Parreno for “Paglagas sa Aso” (Category A) and Christian Cadalso for “Agus” (Category B).
The Best Actress winners are Marinel Villeza for “Hinungdan” (Category A) and Daniela Adame for “Haklo, Buga, Piyong” (Category B). The Best Actor goes to Kenth Jun Esmille for “Paglagas sa Aso” (Category A) and Arlie Palmares for “Agus” (Category B).
The Best Scriptwriters who were recognized for their passionate writing credits are Joenarey Alada, Kimberly Cadion and Arvin Parreno for “Paglagas sa Aso” (Category A); Helen Adame and Grace Adame for “Haklo, Buga, Piyong” (Category B). The Best Cinematography winners are “Paglagas sa Aso” (Category A) and “Haklo, Buga, Piyong” (Category B).
A Bloodletting activity entitled “YES to Save Lives” was successfully held on September 14 and another similar activity is scheduled on September 24. The Oath-Taking of Youth Organizations and Local Youth Development Council will be held on September 25.
The Linggo ng Kabataan exhibit will be open for public viewing until September 25 at City Mall Passi.
