The Converge FiberXers began its new era in the PBA with a lopsided win over the Terrafirma Dyip, 127-95, during the Governor’s Cup Conference on August 21, 2024.

With a retooled roster and coaching staff, the FiberXers immediately flaunted their off-season preparations as they hosted a demolition exhibition on the revamped Terrafirma team that recently added Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle.

Stealing the limelight in Converge’s first game in the import-laced conference was their reinforcement Scotty Hopson who exploded for 46 big points to go alongside eight rebounds.

Hopson, a widely renowned offensive weapon as seen in his previous overseas stints, had a walk in the park against the perimeter defense of Terrafirma.

For four straight quarters, Hopson did what he wanted, attacking the basket that put the Dyip in early foul trouble while lighting it up from downtown with several three-pointers.

Hopson concluded the night with a perfect shooting from the four-point territory, shooting 3/3 from the new arc line.

From the get-go, Hopson already imposed his will underneath and scored on several sneaky baskets that ignited a huge Converge run to close the second frame.

All hell then broke loose in the third canto when the FiberXers dropped 47 points in the quarter alone, leaving Terrafirma behind heading into the fourth.

With a cold shooting night and a turnover-plagued outing, Terrafirma threw the white towel early in the fourth and could only witness Converge’s offensive barrage that remained red hot all night.

Alec Stockton also showcased his improved game, backstopping Hopson and led all locals in scoring with 21 markers.

Former DLSU superstar Deschon Winston also snatched his groove against Terrafirma and delivered an all-around effort of 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
