Even team practices or team workouts aren’t allowed in the PBA as of the moment.
After commissioner Willie Marcial issued a statement regarding all cancelation of league practices and scrimmages due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he added that he will further extend the suspension until further notice.
Last March 13, Marcial announced that he will be prohibiting team activities until March 27, but just recently, he said that the end of suspension might end until April.
The decision is not only effective for the 5×5 format but also for the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup and the newly introduced PBA 3×3 Cup that is yet to see inaugural action ceremonies.
After his announcement, Marcial put out a memo stating that all PBA players should be practicing home quarantine and are not allowed to conduct basketball operations within their team.
In light of the country’s current situation, the Office of the Commissioner is extending all its member teams’ two-week break from practices, scrimmages and other related activities which were supposed to end March 27, Friday, until further notice,” Marcial said.
Marcial also stated that the PBA is just aligning their set rules and parameters with the Philippine government, following their guidelines implemented.
