PCG, AF Payments Launch Beep™-Enabled ID Cards

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and AF Payments Inc. have introduced beep™-enabled ID cards, signaling a major step forward in modernizing public service and enhancing convenience for PCG personnel.

The new multifunctional ID cards were unveiled during a ceremony at the PCG National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila. These cards double as official identification and contactless payment tools, integrating seamlessly into the beep™ ecosystem used across public transport and retail sectors.

“As PCG personnel start using their new beep™-enabled ID cards, they can anticipate a more seamless and rewarding experience, both in their professional duties and everyday transactions,” said AF Payments President and CEO Jonathan Juan “JJ” Moreno.

A Leap in Public Service Modernization

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista emphasized the significance of the innovation.

“This project goes beyond payment cards. It signals a forward-looking vision, integrating technology seamlessly into the daily lives of our personnel who dedicate themselves to safeguarding our nation,” Bautista said.

He called the collaboration a testament to the government’s commitment to enhancing the lives of public servants through technology.

PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan echoed this sentiment, describing the initiative as a step toward greater digital visibility.

“This development is part of the Philippine Coast Guard’s continuing effort to modernize, and we would like to take advantage of the technologies that come by,” Gavan said.

Enhanced Convenience for Everyday Use

The beep™-enabled ID cards provide PCG personnel access to cashless payments on public transport systems, including LRT1, LRT2, MRT3, and P2P buses. They are also accepted at convenience stores such as Lawson and Uncle John’s, where users can enjoy exclusive rewards, promotions, and beep™ points.

This integration highlights the practical advantages of leveraging digital payment technology, aligning with the national agenda for digital transformation.

Setting a Benchmark for Other Agencies

AF Payments Inc. encouraged other government agencies to adopt beep™ technology, showcasing its potential to modernize processes and improve employee convenience. The partnership serves as a model for how public institutions can integrate advanced tools to streamline operations and promote innovation.

“Let this partnership symbolize our commitment to those who serve on the front lines,” Bautista added.

AF Payments continues to invite businesses and government organizations to explore similar initiatives, reflecting its dedication to digital transformation and user-centric solutions.
