BACOLOD City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Negros Occidental has requested 50 more personnel from the national headquarters to support the existing strength of the local station in the province, including Bacolod City.
Commander Ludovico Librilla Jr., PCG-Negros Occidental head, said he’s hoping that the recruits from Negros island will be assigned in their localities in the province so that they will be more effective and efficient in the performance of their official duties and functions.
“Indi na sila mamroblema na mangapa pa sila sa ila area of assignment tungod taga dira gid sila,” he added.
Librilla told Daily Guardian that the additional personnel will be divided into 13 PCG sub-stations in the province, and the others will be provided to the stations in Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
Librilla said they will check which area really needs more personnel.
At present, PCG has 80 personnel in the province.
Librilla said they need at least 70 more personnel to reach the ideal manpower of 150, considering that PCG has also many mandates.
He said they capacitate their personnel specifically on Maritime Law Enforcement so that they will be equipped with additional knowledge and expertise in the implementation and enforcement of such mandate.
Meanwhile, he also said that there will be minor changes in the unit personnel as part of their normal rotation.
