PDIC orders banks to display new deposit seals

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. has directed banks to prominently display new PDIC decals and standees in all head offices and branches nationwide beginning April 15, 2026, reinforcing their responsibility to inform depositors that their savings are protected under the country’s deposit insurance system.

The directive follows the distribution of the new decals and standees last year and was reiterated through Bulletin No. 2026-02, issued on Feb. 6, 2026, reminding banks that the display of these official seals of protection is mandatory for the information of the depositing public.

The updated decals and standees reflect the enhanced maximum deposit insurance coverage of PHP 1 million per depositor per bank, which took effect on March 15, 2025.

The increase in the maximum deposit insurance coverage marked a major expansion from the previous ceiling and was designed to strengthen safeguards for bank deposits, boost depositor confidence, and support financial stability.

To implement the increase and ensure uniform compliance across the banking system, the PDIC issued Regulatory Issuance No. 2025-01 in June 2025, revising the rules and regulations on advertisement and the proper use of the PDIC seal, insurance statement, and signages.

Under Regulatory Issuance No. 2025-01, banks are required to prominently and continuously post the physical decal at the entrance of each head office, branch, and branch-lite unit.

The regulation also requires the digital decal to be prominently and continuously displayed on a bank’s official website, digital banking channels, ATMs, and other similar customer-access machines.

In addition, the standee must be prominently and continuously displayed at all tellers’ counters and new accounts counters to maximize visibility at key customer interaction points.

The required display of the materials across both physical premises and digital platforms highlights the partnership between the PDIC and the banking industry in promoting transparency and depositor awareness.

By clearly communicating the increased maximum deposit insurance coverage, banks help assure customers that deposits now carry broader protection.

The initiative also reflects the PDIC’s continuing effort to strengthen public confidence in the Philippine banking system through accessible, accurate, and consistent information for depositors.

The PDIC said compliance with Regulatory Issuance No. 2025-01 is mandatory and that failure to follow the prescribed display requirements may result in fines and penalties under the PDIC Charter.

Banks may claim the new decals and standees free of charge at the PDIC Public Assistance Center at the PDIC Chino Building, 2228 Chino Roces Ave., Makati City.

Banks may also arrange delivery to their offices through an online request via the PDIC website, subject to applicable courier fees.
