BACOLOD City – A pedicab driver died while another man was injured in separate stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental over the weekend.

In San Carlos City, Elmer Años, 38, of Barangay Buluangan was allegedly stabbed to death by Salvador Paslon, 41, of the said village, after they had an argument while having a drinking session at the said village last Saturday.

Años succumbed to multiple stab wounds. Paslon surrendered to the authorities, bringing with him the bladed weapon he used in the crime.

Meanwhile in Calatrava town, Sonny Boy Lascoña, 29, of Barangay Kapitan Ramon, Silay City was wounded after he was allegedly stabbed by four unidentified men at Barangay Paghumayan last Sunday.

Police Corporal Johnmar Palabrica, investigator of Calatrava Municipal Police Station, said Lascoña was called by his former partner, Teresa Villamero, 40, of the said village, to meet her that day and to divide the P100,000 cash, and their properties, following their separation.

However, he did not receive anything.

Lascoña decided to go home when Villamero reportedly stopped him and warned him that if he will go home, something bad will happen to him, Palabrica said.

But, the victim insisted and while he was walking, Villamero’s companions, one of whom is her relative, allegedly attacked the victim with a knife, and fled.

Lascoña sustained multiple injuries and was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.

Palabrica said they are eyeing jealousy as the motive because the victim has a new partner.

Although Villamero did not directly hit Lascoña, she will still be included in the filing of frustrated murder charges since she allegedly planned it, Palabrica said.

All the five suspects are still at-large.
