Performance of schools in April 2024 Engineering Board Examinations

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Electrical Engineering announced that 4,436 out of 7,005 examinees nationwide, or 63.64%, passed the April 2024 Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination given in fifteen (15) testing centers. ISAT University ranked number 3 in the top-performing schools with 50 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage. Five (5) schools in Western Visayas out of 12, or 41.67%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than the national level. The Region produced 229 passers out of 379 takers, or 60.42% passing percentage. Two hundred eighty-four first takers and 95 repeaters from the Region took the said examination. The first taker’s passing percentage is 69.37%.

Also, the PRC Board of Electrical Engineering announced that a total of 629 out of 1,220 examinees nationwide, or 51.56%, passed the April 2024 Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination given nationwide. Raphner Matunding Mendoza of Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) ranked number 10 in the said examination for Master Electrician. Eight (8) schools in Western Visayas out of 11, or 72.72%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than the national level. The Region produced 42 passers out of 74 takers, or 56.76% passing percentage. Fifty-six first-takers and 18 repeaters from the Region took the said examination.

On the other hand, the PRC Board of Electronics Engineering announced that 1,330 out of 3,130 examinees nationwide, or 42.49%, passed the April 2024 Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination given in eleven (11) testing centers nationwide. Niele Shem Geronimo Bañas of TUP-Visayas ranked number 1 in the said examinations for Electronics Engineers. The Western Visayas Region performed high, or with a passing percentage higher than the national average. Six (6) schools in Western Visayas out of 10, or 60%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than the national level. The Region produced 131 passers out of 233 takers, or 56.2% passing percentage. One hundred seventy-one first-takers and 45 repeaters from the Region took the said examination. The first taker’s passing percentage is 64.33%.

Likewise, the PRC Board of Electronics Engineering announced that a total of 1,819 out of 2,538 examinees nationwide, or 71.67%, passed the April 2024 Electronics Technicians Licensure Examination given nationwide. TUP-Visayas ranked number 1 in the top-performing schools with 50 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage, while ISAT University ranked number 3 in the said examination. The Western Visayas Region performed high, or with a passing percentage higher than the national average. Six (6) schools in Western Visayas out of 9, or 66.67%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than the national level. The Region produced 174 passers out of 208 takers, or 83.65% passing percentage. One hundred ninety-seven first-takers and 11 repeaters from the Region took the said examination. The first taker’s passing percentage is 85.28%.

The PRC Board of Civil Engineering announced that 6,680 out of 16,990 examinees nationwide, or 39.32%, passed the April 2024 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination. The Western Visayas Region performed high, or with a passing percentage higher than the national average. Ten (10) schools in Western Visayas out of 19, or 52.6 %, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than the national level. The Region produced 466 passers out of 1,129 takers, or 41.28% passing percentage. There were 579 first takers and 550 repeaters from the Region who took the said examination. The first taker’s passing is 50.95%.

The high passing average of first takers in these board examinations indicates the quality of education acquired by our engineering graduates, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
