Performance of Schools in August 2024 REE and RME Licensure Examinations

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Electrical Engineering announced that a total of 1,655 out of 3,058 examinees nationwide, or 54.12%, passed in the August 2024 Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination given in NCR, Baguio, Cebu and Davao testing centers.

The Western Visayas Region performed high, or with passing percentage higher than that of the national passing percentage. Garcia College of Technology in Kalibo, Aklan (86.67% passing) ranked number 1 in the Region for higher education institutions (HEIs) with 10 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage. ISAT University in La Paz, Iloilo City (81.82%) ranked number 2 in the Region for HEIs with 10 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage. Eight (8) schools in the Region out of 13, or 61.54%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national passing percentage. The Region produced 114 passers out of 203 takers, or 56.16% passing percentage. There were 111 first takers and 92 repeaters from the Region who took the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 63.06%. The repeaters’ passing percentage is 47.83%.

On the other hand, the PRC Board of Electrical Engineering announced that a total of 335 out of 834 examinees nationwide, or 40.17%, passed in the August 2024 Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination given in NCR, Baguio, Cebu and Davao testing centers. In the Regional level, the Western Visayas Region performed high, or with passing percentage higher than that of the national passing percentage. Five (5) schools in Western Visayas out of 7, or 71.43%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national passing percentage. The Region produced 14 passers out of 25 takers, or 56.00% passing percentage. There were 19 first takers and 6 repeaters from the Region who took the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 68.42%. The repeaters’ passing percentage is 16.67%.

Republic Act Number 7920 (RA 7920), otherwise known as the New Electrical Engineering Law of 1995, provides for a more responsive and comprehensive regulation for the practice, licensing, and registration of Electrical Engineers and Electricians in the country. Applicants for Registered Master Electrician Examination shall be a citizen of the Philippines; at least eighteen (18) years of age; of good reputation with high moral values; and has not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude.

Furthermore, an applicant for Master Electrician shall complete at least three (3) years of a five-year Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) program or a three-year course in Electrical Engineering Technology from an engineering school recognized by the Philippine government and, in addition, has a subsequent specific record of one (1) year practice in electrical wiring and installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment.

Or has graduated from a two-year electrician’s course of instruction from a vocational or trade school recognized by the Philippine government and, in addition, has at least two (2) years of apprenticeship after completion of the course of instruction on electrical installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment.

Or has completed a one-year electrician’s course of instruction from a vocational school recognized by the Philippine government and, in addition, has at least three (3) years of apprenticeship after completion of the course of instruction on electrical installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment.

Or has completed a four-year high school education or its equivalent and, in addition, has subsequent specific record of at least five (5) years of apprenticeship in electric wiring, installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment.
