The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA joined the pool of universities that temporarily shut down their sports programs due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
After Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) also altered their sports programs for cost-cutting, Perpetual Help was the third school to reportedly suspend and follow the said measures to continue with academic plans.
According to a source confirmed by Tiebreaker Times, the university is transitioning to an online learning format so its administration decided to cut all training allowances to all of their athletes.
However, all of their coaches will still get paid, but because there will be no NCAA tournament this year, athletes will have to wait for the next conference.
Amid the shutting down of varsities, Perpetual is still encouraging all of its athletes to practice self-training under the supervision of their coaches.
