LAS VEGAS, Nevada—The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) showcased the country’s manufacturing prowess at CES 2025, securing promising leads in the semiconductor and electronics supply chain.

The delegation, led by PEZA Director General Tereso Panga and Science and Technology Secretary Dr. Renato Solidum Jr., spotlighted opportunities for global companies to invest in the Philippines.

The Philippine pavilion featured eight PEZA locators, including Ionics EMS, Inc., Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc., and Automated Technology (Phil) Inc., alongside ecozone support enterprises such as Airspeed Philippines and Meralco.

Co-organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), SEIPI, and CITEM, the pavilion demonstrated the Philippines’ role in the global semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.

“This event underscores the strong EMS-SMS ecosystem in PEZA zones,” said Panga. “We showcased the Philippines as an investment hub, leveraging competitive advantages such as the CREATE MORE Law and strategic location in ASEAN.”

Strengthening Global Connections

PEZA secured high-profile meetings with industry leaders, including Quintel Solutions, a subsidiary of Cirtek, a long-time PEZA locator.

Discussions with ON Semiconductor Corporation (onsemi) highlighted the Philippines’ competitive fiscal incentives and its strategic value in the company’s expansion plans.

PEZA also engaged with companies endorsed by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Los Angeles, including Valmiz, VANET Inc., and IPC International.

These firms expressed interest in exploring opportunities within the Philippines’ burgeoning tech sector.

During CES, PEZA participated in the World Electronics Forum breakfast alongside global industry leaders, highlighting the Philippines’ unique pull factors, such as its skilled workforce and robust supply chain.

PEZA’s Atty. Ross Vincent Sy spoke at the Philippine Business Forum, emphasizing the Philippines’ regional competitiveness and the benefits of the CREATE MORE Law.

Exploring Partnerships in San Francisco

Following CES, the PEZA delegation met with companies in San Francisco, including Applied Materials, a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing solutions.

Discussions centered on integrating parts of the equipment manufacturing supply chain into the Philippines.

Enphase Energy, a market leader in solar microinverters, also explored opportunities to align with PEZA’s sustainability initiatives.

Further engagements with Nvidia and Tesla allowed PEZA to showcase the Philippines as a viable partner for advanced technologies, from artificial intelligence to electric vehicles.

A Bright Outlook for Philippine Investments

PEZA capped its CES 2025 participation with a dialogue hosted by Filipino rap artist and workforce advocate Apl.de.ap, fostering collaborations to create job opportunities for Filipinos.

“I am upbeat with the reception from U.S. companies and their potential investments in the Philippines,” Panga said.

“With our positive economic reforms, I have no doubt we can position the Philippines as the preferred investment hub in ASEAN.”
