Now in its 27th year, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) is organizing its annual biggest event, the Investors’ Recognition Day that will be held on 25 November, Friday, at PEZA Head Office in Pasay City, to recognize its top-performing economic zone developer and locator companies.
Maintaining the agency’s brand of excellence as the primary government instrumentality for investment promotions in the export industry and the creation of ecozones, PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga said, “We are grateful for the continued trust and confidence of our investors and locators in ecozones nationwide.”
“This coming Friday, we will once again honor the valuable contributions of our registered business enterprises (RBEs) for continuously making a significant impact on our country’s investments, exports, and job generation,” he added.
“Despite facing countless challenges brought by the pandemic and the global recession, PEZA remains formidable in performing its mandate. This would not have been possible without the enormous and unrelenting support from our ecozone developers, locators, and investment partners in promoting ecozones nationwide. Because of them, we are able to deliver our services one notch higher,” the OIC Chief added.
PEZA Board Chairman and Trade Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual will grace the Investors’ Recognition Day as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker. Some of the notable industry association partners will also attend PEZA’s annual event are IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) President Jack Madrid, Confederation of Wearables Exporters of the Philippines (CONWEP) Executive Director Marites Agoncillo and Associate Director Rosette Carrillo, and Philippine Association of Multinational Companies Regional Headquarters, Incorporated (PAMURI) Director Celeste Ilagan.
Award categories
This year’s Investors’ Recognition Day will be the first of Tereso Panga as the OIC Head of PEZA. During the event, a total of 50 export-oriented companies will be awarded under the following categories: Galing Pinas! Award, COVID-19 Response Award, Outstanding Exporter, Outstanding Employer, Outstanding Community Projects, Outstanding Environmental Performance, Hall of Fame Award, Billionaires’ Award, and PEZA Golden Achievement Award.
The Galing Pinas! Award is awarded to PEZA-registered Ecozone Export Enterprises that are substantially utilizing locally manufactured/produced and/or grown raw materials in their export products.
The Outstanding Exporter Award is given to locators that have accomplished outstanding performance in exports while the Outstanding Employer Award is awarded to companies that generated the most number of jobs, held high regard for the welfare of its workers, and maintained harmony between labor and management.
The Outstanding Community Project Award is granted to locators or developers that have strengthened their relationship with the community through meaningful corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects such as scholarship programs, free medical and dental services, tree planting, gift giving, or similar pro-community projects.
Locators that institutionalized their environmental management system, complied with environmental regulations and fostered partnerships between the government and the industry in caring for the environment while simultaneously sustaining economic growth will be awarded the Outstanding Environmental Performers Award.
The COVID-19 Response Award is bestowed to PEZA-registered enterprises and economic zone developer-operators who have successfully established policies and programs to avert the spread of the virus in the workplace.
Meanwhile, the Hall of Fame Award is awarded to three-time winners of the Outstanding Exporter, Outstanding Employer, Outstanding Community Project, and Outstanding Environmental Performer Awards.
The Billionaires Award is awarded to a company that exports at least US$2.5 Billion in any given year.
PEZA will also bestow the PEZA Golden Achievement Award to locator companies. This award is the most prestigious and most esteemed award given to a company that has been elevated to the Hall of Fame in all four (4) categories.
