With several months left before 2021 ends, the officials and stakeholders of the Philippines Football League (PFL) are still optimistic that they can stage another tournament.
PFL Commissioner Coco Torre shared his sentiments and explained that the organization is doing everything to bring back football in the country amid the uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the PFL board and all of the participating teams are set to have an official meeting in the first week of October to discuss things.
“We (Clubs and PFL) are doing everything we can to make the League happen this year, despite the realities on the ground,” said Torre.
If things will go as planned, Torre shared that the usual venue of the games will still be located at FF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
Seven clubs reportedly signified their intent to join if the tournament will be staged this year: the defending champions United City FC, the Iloilo-based Kaya FC, Azkals Development Team, Stallion Laguna, Maharlika Manila, Mendiola 1991, and the Dynamic Herb Cebu squad.
“We owe it to the fans and stakeholders, but at the same time we must ensure the health and safety of our players,” added Torre.
