The Philippines Football League (PFL) is setting its sights on October 27, 2021 for the league resumption in its final tournament this season.
After a meeting between the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) and the PFL’s participating clubs, certain rules and conditions were set for the plan to materialize.
PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes and PFL commissioner Coco Torre presided the meeting and stayed firm with their decision of putting the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite as the main venue.
However, Carmona, Cavite is still under MECQ and must wait for its quarantine classification to be relegated to the more relaxed GCQ before the league can resume.
“PFF is committed to having the PFL 2021 season this year when conditions permit. We understand how also important the league is for the clubs, sponsors, and football fans,” explained Gastanes.
Also, one general rule that both Gastanes and Torre reiterated is that the PFL should have at least six minimum teams that will join the tournament.
As of this writing, Iloilo’s Kaya FC, defending champions United City FC, the Azkals Development Team, Stallion Laguna, Maharlika Manila, Mendiola 1991, and the Dynamic Herb Cebu already confirmed their participation.
“The staging of the season will help preserve the livelihood of the players, staff, officials and determine the League Standings based on sporting merit,” said Torre.
