The Philippine Triathlon team opened 2020 on a high note after notching medals in the men’s elite 2020 Rayong NTT ASTC Sprint Triathlon Southeast Championships in Thailand.
Fer Casares, a veteran member of the national team, delivered a gold medal for the country after dominating the 750m swim, 20k bike, and the 5k run with a time of 56 minutes and 14 seconds.
Luke Chua, a member of the Singapore national team who placed second, finished a minute after Casares crossed the finish line.
Meanwhile, another national team veteran copped a bronze medal for PH, Niko Huelgas, who finished during the 58:36 mark.
In the women’s division, Claire Adorna clinched the silver medal who finished with a time of 1 hour and 7:40 minutes.
Adorna was a member of the SEA Games winning squad in the mixed relay team, who finished a minute after the second-placer from Singapore.
