The Philippine national women’s badminton squad got stomped by the Thailand women’s team. 5-0, in the Asia Team Championships opener.

Off to a disappointing start, the PH women’s squad failed to clinch one game against the powerhouse Thai shuttlers.

Chasinee Korepap trounced Sarah Joy Barredo in two straight sets, 21-14, 21-15, in a match where Barredo seemed to have the early grip on but lost the momentum as the game progressed.

PH’s Nicole Albo also bowed to Busanan Ombangrungphan, 21-8, 21-10, while Bianca Carlos  was also dealt a loss at the hands of Pornpawee Chochuwong, 21-15, 21-12.

PH’s Alyssa Leonardo and Thea Pomar also had no answer to the surging Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai who fell 21-12, 21-13.

Mas mahihirapan kami with Indonesians pero iisipin na lang namin na no pressure kami at all. Basta, laban lang,” Barredo said.
