The Philadelphia 76ers dodged a bullet after newly acquired star Paul George evaded a major knee injury during their NBA preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks.

In the second quarter of the matchup, George appeared to have a hyperextended knee injury after trying to defend Atlanta’s Jalen Johnson at the post.

George immediately went to the locker room seconds after the incident and didn’t return to the game. The 76ers then had an initial diagnosis of a hyperextended knee to address the matter.

However, the franchise had a positive update after the official MRI results went out as George only had a bone bruise in his knee and will be out for the remainder of the NBA preseason.

The veteran shooting guard will most likely be out for 1-2 weeks and might return to action when the 76ers kick off their NBA regular season against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 24, 2024.

Before leaving the game against the Hawks, George was bound for another impressive night after already tallying eight points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

George was nothing but spectacular in the ongoing NBA preseason and immediately impressed in his Philadelphia debut with 23 points, six boards, two dimes, and a steal.

The former Los Angeles Clippers star just inked a four-year $212-million contract with Philadelphia and is hoping to end his NBA title drought in the Eastern Conference.

George will be teaming up with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in Philadelphia. They also have a deep supporting cast led by Caleb Martin, Kyle Lowry, Eric Gordon, and Kelly Oubre Jr.
