‘Philandering’ man stabs ‘jealous’ wife to death

A verbal fight between a married couple led to a violent end.

The husband, 39-year Jake Bela-ong, allegedly killed his wife in a knife attack inside their house at Barangay Nazareth, Buenavista, Guimaras around 8:45 a.m. on August 24.

Jake also took the victim, 39-year-old Lourdes Bela-ong, to the hospital but she did not survive.

Major Jeffrey Ferrer, Buenavista police chief, said the couple had a fight prior to the stabbing episode.

“It was nothing unusual for them since they frequently had a fight,” Ferrer said.

Lourdes had allegedly brought up the man’s philandering acts.

Police investigators claimed there was indeed a third party on Jake’s part.

In some instances, Jake physically hurt Lourdes but no case was filed against the former since they always mended.

Thursday’s fight was a different one since Jake used a weapon to hurt his wife.

“He claimed he was so consumed by anger that he didn’t think much of his action,” Ferrer said quoting Jake.

But Ferrer believed otherwise. “There was really an intention to physically harm his wife.”

The couple, both vegetable vendors, has two children – a 16-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy.

The two were not around when the incident happened.

Jake is now detained while charges are yet to be filed against him.
