Philippines to Host First Int’l Nuclear Forum in November

The Philippines is set to host the inaugural Philippine International Nuclear Supply Chain Forum (PINSCF) from November 13 to 15, 2024, gathering key stakeholders to discuss innovations and best practices in nuclear energy.

The event, to be held at Solaire Resort North in Quezon City, will bring together international players in the nuclear energy supply chain, power generation firms, government agencies, and academic institutions.

Countries with nuclear expertise, including the United States, Canada, France, Japan, and South Korea, will share their knowledge and technologies.

“We are bringing together companies from countries with proven track records in building and maintaining the critical infrastructure needed by the energy sector,” the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

The DOE highlighted that the forum offers an opportunity for the Philippines to benefit from these experiences as it explores nuclear energy to achieve a balanced, low-carbon energy system.

The Philippines has committed to including nuclear energy in its power mix through Executive Order No. 164, signed in 2022.

The goal is to have its first nuclear power plants operational by 2032, starting with a 1,200 MW capacity, and expanding to 4,800 MW by 2050.

PINSCF 2024 will serve as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and potential partnerships as the Philippines transitions toward clean energy.

Participants and interested parties can register through the event’s official website, www.nuclearforumph.com.
