PhilSys team reaches remote Caluya Island, ensuring every resident gains secure identification.

The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VI (PSARSSO VI) has reported substantial progress in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration within Region 6, with 96.83% of the target population now registered.

As of the latest update, 6,702,202 individuals have completed Step 2 of the registration process, which includes capturing biometric information. This achievement brings Region 6 closer to its goal of registering 6.9 million residents.

The breakdown of registered individuals by province is as follows:

  • Aklan: 533,105
  • Antique: 514,054
  • Capiz: 680,930
  • Guimaras: 154,894
  • Iloilo: 2,147,582
  • Negros Occidental: 2,691,837

To further boost registration rates, the PSA has implemented several innovative strategies:

  1. PhilSys-On-Wheels: Mobile registration units travel to remote areas to facilitate registration.
  2. Colocation in Events: Registration services are provided at job fairs and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) family development sessions.
  3. House-to-House Registration: Teams visit households to register individuals who are unable to visit registration centers.
  4. Child Registration: Children aged 1-4 years are also being registered to ensure younger family members are included.

PSA officials emphasized the importance of these initiatives in achieving their goal. “We are committed to ensuring all residents of Region 6 are registered with PhilSys. This identification system is crucial for accessing secure identification and essential services,” said a PSA spokesperson.

Residents who have yet to register are encouraged to do so promptly. For more information, they can visit the PSA website or contact their local PSA office.

The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) aims to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Philippines. The PhilSys ID, also known as the PhilID, is intended to provide a valid proof of identity, simplifying public and private transactions, and promoting ease of doing business.

The PhilSys registration process involves three steps:

  1. Step 1: Demographic data collection through online or face-to-face registration.
  2. Step 2: Biometric data capture, including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs.
  3. Step 3: Issuance of the PhilSys Number (PSN) and PhilID card.

With the successful implementation of these strategies, Region 6 is on track to achieving full registration, ensuring that its residents can benefit from the advantages of a unified national identification system.
