BACOLOD CITY – Police seized PHP10.2 million worth of suspected shabu from three suspects during anti-drug operations in Negros Oriental on Labor Day, May 1.

The first buy-bust was conducted at 1:45 a.m. in Barangay Cangmating, Sibulan, resulting in the arrest of “Tony,” 45, a resident of Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City.

Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), said 500 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP3.4 million were recovered from the suspect.

A second operation took place past 3 a.m. in Barangay Camanjac, Dumaguete City, leading to the arrest of “Gege,” 37, and “Jeb-jeb,” 22, both residents of Pamplona town.

The two allegedly yielded 1,000 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP6.8 million.

Polinar said the suspects were identified as alleged couriers tasked with storing the illegal drugs prior to distribution.

Authorities had monitored the suspects for several months before their arrest.

All three were tagged as high-value individuals due to their suspected roles in the illegal drug trade.

Drug charges were filed against the suspects Friday, and further investigation is ongoing.

In a Facebook post, Norppo said the successful operations reflect a shared commitment to building a safer, healthier Negros Oriental, especially for the youth.

“Every step we take, no matter how challenging, is a step toward a brighter tomorrow,” the post read.

Police urged the public to remain vigilant, resilient, and involved in defending communities against illegal drugs.

Notorious Thief Falls in Bacolod Drug Sting

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has urged victims of a suspected serial thief to report incidents and pursue legal action.

“Aldren,” 33, a resident of Barangay Banago, was arrested in a buy-bust on April 29 in the same village.

Police confiscated 5.1 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP34,680 from the suspect.

The BCPO said Aldren was allegedly involved in a series of thefts, particularly in Eroreco Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan, and Bugnay Street in Barangay Villamonte.

He has been charged with violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

BCPO said it remains committed to its intensified campaign against drugs and criminality to ensure public safety in the city.
