Thousands of Ilonggo kakampinks walked on the streets of Iloilo City on Saturday morning, Nov 20, 2021 to show support for Presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo in the May 2022 elections.

Around 2,000 Ilonggos from different walks of life joined the “Walk for Leni” initiative in their pink shirts, pink balloons, pink shoes, and pink banners.

The participants included lawyers, doctors, nuns, bikers, LGBTQIA+ community, women, kids, and even dog lovers and their furbabies.

“Walk for Leni” started at Brgy. Ungka Service Road and ended at Esplanade 1 where a mass was held.

No less than Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, who had been vocal in his support to the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robrero, led the event.

“The streets of Mandurriao were flooded with pink as we shared our voice in support of Leni Robredo and her slates to make the Pearl of the Orient Seas shine again.  At the end of our walk, we had a mass at Esplanade 1 to pray for God’s guidance in choosing the right leaders that will help the country recover from devastating events,” he said in his social media page.

Last October, around 500 bikers also pedaled along the streets of Iloilo City to show their support for VP Leni Robredo. (ERS)
