The Detroit Pistons continued its disappointing slump after another loss to the Brooklyn Nets last December 27, 2023, in the ongoing NBA regular season.

With its 27th consecutive defeat, the Eastern Conference franchise just clinched the NBA record for the longest losing streak in a single season.

The Pistons broke the record set by the Philadelphia 76ers last 2013-2014 NBA season while the other one was by the Cleveland Cavaliers way back in 2010.

It was a frustrating outing for Detroit after clinching its best chance of halting its losing streak when they took over a slim lead against the Nets.

The Pistons wrapped up the first quarter with a six-point lead but once again fumbled midway through the second frame when they allowed Brooklyn to score 36 points.

Cade Cunningham gave his all after erupting for 41 points, nine rebounds, five assists, one steal, and a block, but his efforts went to waste when the Nets gave them a balanced offensive attack.

Bojan Bogdanovic was also in the zone against the Nets, scoring 23 markers built from three three-pointers on a 9/19 shooting from the field.

When the Nets had their run, Detroit attempted to salvage the game in the final five minutes when the duo went hot but Brooklyn’s defense stepped up to the bright lights which helped them clinch the win.

Six players scored in double figures for the Nets led by Cameron Johnson who dropped 24 points built from an efficient 9/13 shooting from the field.

Detroit will have the chance to snap its dry spell tomorrow, when they square off against the league-leading Boston Celtics at 8:30 AM.

If the Pistons lose again, they will now set an NBA record for the longest losing streak in a single season to 30 straight games.

Their last win was obtained last October 29, 2023, when they took down the Chicago Bulls, 118-102. After the victory, the Pistons are yet to re-enter the NBA winning column.

Will Detroit end 2023 with a win or will they continue their woes?
