The PLDT High-Speed Hitters pulled off a stellar display of volleyball and blanked the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-20, 25-23, 25-23, in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on August 8, 2024, at the Philsports Arena.
Fresh off a tightly-contested loss against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers last week, the High-Speed Hitters were eager to bounce back and vented their ire on Farm Fresh.
PLDT’s reinforcement Lena Samoilenko ensured that the High-Speed Hitters won’t receive two consecutive defeats after leading her squad with 22 big points derived from 20 successful attacks.
Aside from her scoring ability, the Russian import also fortified PLDT’s floor defense as she delivered nine excellent receptions and seven excellent digs.
PLDT immediately turned to their offensive stalwart which helped them grab the early momentum against the young and energetic Farm Fresh team.
Kim Fajardo, PLDT’s veteran playmaker, put their offense in order after dishing out 12 excellent sets alongside three points.
The Fajardo-Samoilenko connection ignited PLDT in the last two sets, especially when the Foxies nearly forced a tiebreaker when they trimmed their deficit to just a point.
Fiola Ceballos also stepped up when PLDT needed her the most and stuffed the stat sheets with 11 markers, 10 excellent digs, and nine excellent receptions.
Meanwhile, the returning Mika Reyes contributed eight points and two blocks while Erika Santos added seven markers in the winning effort.
On the other hand, it was Trisha Tubu who was the lone bright star for Farm Fresh as the former UAAP attacker fired 17 points built from 16 successful attacks.
