The PLDT High Speed Hitters outlasted the star-studded F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in five thrilling sets, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 28-30, 15-8, during the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) classification round and clinched fifth place honors.

It was a total team effort for the women in red and black after putting on a strong middle-blocking performance against F2’s star spikers Kim Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron, Aby Maraño, and Ara Galang.

“Satisfied naman kasi from one and a half month kami nag training at least nakita na namin yung potential ng team namin,” said PLDT head coach George Pascua.

Seasoned veterans stepped up for PLDT as star setter and former national team staple Rea Dimaculangan setup her teammates well and finished the game with 38 excellent sets with four points.

Backstopping Dimaculangan’s magnificent setting are Fiola Ceballos and Chin Basas who scored 18 points apiece to lead all PLDT scorers in the match.

The trio of Jovie Prado, Jules Samonte, and Mika Reyes combined for a total of 30 points and were always ready to anchor the PLDT defense.

F2 was led by Baron who chipped in 13 points off her seven successful attacks and five blocks while her twin tower Dy got 12 points.

It was a huge game for the recovering Kim Fajardo who played her best game of the conference after dishing out 26 perfect sets and 13 excellent digs.

This is the lowest post-season place that the Cargo Movers ever had since dominating the Philippine Superliga (PSL) and the championship trophy during the PNVF league.
