Police Regional Office 6 joined the entire Philippine National Police in the simultaneous Nationwide Launching of BARANGAYanihan Help and Food Bank on May 14, 2021.
The activity was held in front of Heritage Park, Camp Crame, Quezon City with the newly installed Chief Philippine National Police, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar as the Guest of Honor.
All Police Regional Offices joined the activity via zoom and Facebook live.
The concept BARANGAYanihan has been long practiced by the PNP through the existing community relations program such as “Kapwa Ko Sagot Ko”, “Community Feeding Program”, ‘Food Bank” and other community services by the different PROs nationwide.
This will sum up all existing community services offered by the PNP under one brand name “BARANGAYanihan” which is very much fitting in this time of pandemic.
The PNP served as the forefront in carrying the mission to serve and protect the communities. This activity connotes the bayanihan spirit, which is very much alive in the PNP and in the barangay.
Strengthening the collaboration between the PNP and the community to maintain peace and order is also one of the benefits of this initiative.
General Eleazar thanked the stakeholders who donated in the food bank.
The BARANGAYanihan is not only an avenue that ease the burden of donors in distributing their help in the community, it is also a manifestation of trust and confidence of the stakeholders to the PNP as an organization. These stakeholders are confident that their support through donating goods will reach targeted marginalized group as they expected.
“Asahan niyo po na ang ating kapulisan ang maging instrumento para maihatid ang inyong tulong sa mga nangangailangan,” Gen. Eleazar assured.
During the ceremony, 10 vendors, pedicab driver and strikers received gift packs containing canned goods, rice, milk and health kit from Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, PRO-6 regional director.
As of May 12, 2021, PRO6 conducted 1,530 BARANGAYanihan activities across Western Visayas with 71,060 family-beneficiaries who received assorted goods from over 680 BARANGAYanihan Kiosks established by the units under PRO6.
More than 5.9 million pesos worth of donated goods were distributed in all these activities so far. These goods were donated from the 4,445 generous groups and individuals.
Brig. Gen. Miranda thanked the stakeholders who donated to the PRO-6 food bank,
“Asahan din po ninyo ang commitment ng buong PRO6 sa programa ng ating pinakamamahal na Chief, PNP. Asahan niyo po na patuloy na paiigtingin ng PRO6 ang aming serbisyo publiko sa buong Region 6,” Miranda vowed.
