BACOLOD CITY – Police are investigating whether the death of a 22-year-old college student in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, on Thursday was a self-inflicted accident rather than a hit-and-run.
Police Major Romulo Gepilango, chief of the Moises Padilla police, questioned the account given by the victim’s uncle, who initially reported the incident.
The uncle claimed that an unidentified motorcyclist kicked their parked motorcycle on the roadside in Barangay Magallon Cadre while Deserie Tadena was seated on it, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries.
Gepilango said reviewing closed-circuit television footage has not yielded useful information due to poor quality.
The investigation remains stalled as no witnesses have come forward to clarify the incident.
Gepilango said police are waiting for Tadena’s father to contact them for further information.
He added that the victim’s uncle is cooperating with the investigation.
