Police have released a quarry operator who was temporarily held following a firearm raid on the morning of July 22 in Pototan, Iloilo.

Members of the Pototan Municipal Police Station, along with the Regional Intelligence Unit 6 and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Special Operations Group (IPPO-SOG), raided the house of 64-year-old Martin Querubin in Barangay Tuburan, Pototan.

The operatives recovered a 9mm Kalashnikov pistol with two magazines loaded with 50 rounds of ammunition.

Captain Jersey Besas, Pototan police chief, said the subject initially presented a soft copy of the documents for his gun possession.

Querubin explained that the hard copy of the documents was with his son in Guimaras.

Besas stated that Querubin, along with the seized firearm and ammunition, was brought to the station.

“But we released him immediately after he presented the necessary documents,” Besas said.

The raid on Querubin’s home was based on two complaints lodged against him at the barangay level.

He was reportedly accused of threats and gun poking.
