BACOLOD City – The Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Commission on Elections here on Wednesday denied the petition against the transfer of the voter’s registration of former Negros Occidental 3rd district congressman Alfredo Benitez.
Benitez earlier transferred his voter’s registration from Victorias City to Bacolod, fueling talks that he will run for mayor here, which he confirmed last week after the ERB hearing on his application.
The ERB eventually approved the registration of Benitez as a voter of Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod.
Meanwhile, Atty. Marcus Vaflor, the lawyer of the petitioners against Benitez, said he has yet to receive the ERB decision.
When asked for his reaction on Benitez running for city mayor, incumbent Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he is too focused on the COVID problem.
