Malacañang condoled with the families, relatives, and friends of the people who died at sea following the capsizing of three vessels in Iloilo Strait on Aug 3, 2019.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said it is also “likely” that the President will personally condole with the victims in Iloilo.
“We note that there is no final death toll yet as our maritime agents continue to do their best in conducting search and rescue operations in the naval areas affected by the bad weather,” Panelo said in a statement.
Panelo said the Office of the President directed all concerned departments and agencies, including the Philippine Coast Guard, the Maritime Industry Authority and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, “to provide immediate assistance to the victims of this tragedy and refine their coordination efforts in safeguarding the security of the public especially during this rainy season.”
The Office of the Civil Defense in Western Visayas said they are preparing for the possible presidential visit within the week.
