Police units all over Western Visayas have been instructed to intensify their security preparations as the Holiday Season nears.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 stressed the need to heighten their security measures to curb criminal and terrorist acts targeting the public, places of convergence, and transportation hubs.

One way of preventing crimes is police visibility, stressed Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief.

He said that police presence must be enhanced by means of intensifying the conduct of foot and mobile patrol in areas or times where police assistance is needed.

Pamuspusan also reminded the public that the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is still there.

As such, police officers were told to strictly implement and enforce the guidelines and health protocols set by the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (MEID) to contain the spread of the virus.

Further, police assistance hubs will also be established in different strategic areas to assist and cater people’s needs.

Conduct of checkpoint operations and deployments will also be religiously done.

Pamuspusan said they would not also be remiss in their anti-criminality campaign.

The PNP’s campaigns such as “Oplan Bakal”, “Oplan Sita” “Oplan Galugad”, and Oplan Katok will still be done.

There would also be relentless efforts on service of warrants of arrests and other police interventions.

Pamuspusan stressed, though, that the intensified campaign of the PNP on security preparation will not only be done during this Holiday season.

“The entire Western Visayas police force will continue its mandate of protecting and serving the people,” the region’s top cop said, as he wished for everyone’s safety.
