The 5-day Seminar on Disaster Preparedness, Search, Rescue and Retrieval Operations hosted by Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 concluded on Nov 18, 2021 at Pa-on Beach resort in Barangay Pa-on, Estancia, Iloilo.
Police Brigadier General Flynn E Dongbo, PRO-6 director, graced the ceremony.
The seminar as the country, particularly Western Visayas, is exposed to risks of typhoons and other disasters.
The training adopted both online and face-to-face classes. The theoretical lectures started on the first week of November and the last two days were used to conduct practical simulation exercises.
One of the highlights of the training is the actual handling of rubber boats and performance of water safety drills.
The training aims to enhance the skills of participants in terms of Disaster Preparedness, Search, Rescue and Retrieval Operations.
It was attended by 32 participants – 8 each from Police Regional Offices 7 and 8 and 16 from Western Visayas.
As the training concluded, Western Visayas top cop commended and congratulated the participants for completing the seminar.
“We now have additional personnel ready to respond in case the situation dictates. May your skills acquired be applied in your respective assignments when needed by the circumstances,” Gen. Dongbo said.
