The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 has started to acquire lots for offices that will be transferred to strategic locations.
The move is in consonance with the PNP’s program on “camp decongestion,” which is part of PNP chief General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan’s 9-point agenda (Bayanihan Spirit).
The main mode of acquisition would be done through donations from local government units, private individuals, and other stakeholders.
Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, inspected on Monday a donated lot in Passi City, Iloilo which will soon be the new home of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
Presently, the IPPO headquarters is located at Camp Francisco Sumagaysay in Sta. Barbara town.
The property for the proposed IPPO headquarters was donated by the local government of Passi City.
Nestled in an area of 20,000 square meters, the lot will provide enough space for improvements as stipulated in the Camp Development Plan.
“As the PRO-6 family gets bigger, we need to move our offices in strategic locations to be nearer to the public whom we serve,” Pamuspusan said.
Camp Sumagaysay, on the other hand, sits on a 6,680-square meter area, thus it could no longer accommodate further expansion due to existing buildings.
On top of that, the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) – Region Vi will be moving to their new office at Camp Sumagaysay.
The planned transfer of Iloilo PPO has the support of the Provincial Peace and Order Council headed by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr.
Pamuspusan said Passi City is an ideal site for relocation of the IPPO headquarters since it is located at the center of the province of Iloilo.
“We truly appreciate the LGU of Passi City for donating the lot for the PNP. It would greatly improve the services we provide to the Ilonggos,” Pamuspusan said.
During Monday’s inspection, Pamuspusan was joined by Passi City Vice Mayor Jesry Palmares, other local government officials, IPPO officer-in-charge Colonel Gilbert T Gorero, and personnel of the Regional Project Management Unit 6.
