With a day remaining before the end of the election period, Police Regional Office 6 recorded 82 gun ban violators.

Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson, said gun ban violations declined after Election Day.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of arrests with 34, followed by Capiz PPO with 19.

The Iloilo City Police Office made eight arrests, as did Antique PPO, while the Regional Mobile Force Company had five.

Aklan PPO and Guimaras each logged four arrests.

Of those arrested, 77 were civilians and five were government employees.

Most violators were apprehended in response to police assistance calls, such as reports of indiscriminate firing and alarm and scandal.

Several were caught at police checkpoints.

The suspects were charged with violating Commission on Elections Resolution No. 11067 and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The arrests occurred between Jan. 12, 2025, the start of the election period, and June 10.

The gun ban ends at 11:59 p.m. on June 11.

Police also confiscated 82 assorted firearms and four gun replicas.

With the gun ban nearing its end, Solis said the campaign against loose firearms will continue.
