The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has mapped out its security requirements weeks or even months before the expected mass Covid-19 vaccination program.
Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas police chief, said they have pre-positioned 2,678 personnel for deployment.
“This is to ensure the safety and security of the Covid-19 mass vaccination program,” Miranda said adding, “these personnel will provide security to the implementing teams from the Department of Health and from the local government units.”
The bulk of the personnel will come from Iloilo province with 833.
Negros Occidental will deploy 753; Antique with 296; Capiz with 268; Aklan with 205; Iloilo City with 146; Guimaras with 84; and Bacolod City with 35.
PRO-6 support units will also be deploying their personnel for the said purpose.
The Aviation Security Unit 6 will send 54 personnel while the Regional Maritime Unit 6 will be putting four personnel on standby.
Miranda said the personnel that would be deployed will act as convoy and area security during the movement of the vaccines, stand-by support forces, and quick response teams.
“We will work hand in hand with the Department of Health and the Local Government Unit in the successful and safe implementation of Covid-19 vaccination,” Miranda said.
