PRO-6 to maximize police deployment for SONA

By Jennifer P. Rendon

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 announced on Friday that it has mapped out the security coverage for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22.

There will be maximum deployment of police personnel in identified strategic areas across the region. This deployment includes police visibility through mobile and foot patrols, checkpoints in strategic areas, and other anti-criminality interventions.

PRO-6 has also put civil disturbance management platoons on standby. Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, reminded all unit commanders in Western Visayas to implement and execute the security plan according to the current assessment of their respective areas of responsibility.

“Closely supervise our deployments based on the plan and the current assessment of your respective areas of responsibility,” he instructed unit commanders.

Wanky also directed them to heighten visibility and strictly observe PNP Operational Procedures in all police actions.

“Additionally, we are closely coordinating and collaborating with other government agencies with mandates on safety and security, and the local government units,” he added.

The region’s top police official also appealed to the people of Western Visayas to be proactive citizens by cooperating with the police to maintain peace and order and by remaining vigilant in their communities.

He also urged rallyists to police their ranks, ensuring that public demonstrations do not cause inconveniences or disturbances to commuters and the general public.
