The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 advised members of the fourth estate to remain vigilant and cautious.
While there are no reported threats to media personalities in Western Visayas, PRO-6 said that it pays for media personalities to always prioritize their safety and security.
Brigadier General Leo Francisco, Western Visayas police chief, said that media personalities could report any suspicious thing or incident that can harm their life.
PRO-6 issued the statement following the killing of radio broadcaster and columnist Percival Mabasa (aka Percy Lapid).
PRO-6 also condemned the killing of the 63-year-old columnist and commentator who was gunned down Monday, October 3.
Percy Lapid was shot to death by the two unidentified assailants riding on a motorcycle at the gate of his residential compound in Las Pinas area of suburban Manilla.
