Another batch of mobile and information technology assets was provided to several Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 units on August 22, 2024.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, led the turnover of the equipment to the recipient units during a ceremony held at the PRO-6 headquarters at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
The Antique Police Provincial Office (AkPPO) received the most equipment, including two Nissan NV350 vans, three Kawasaki Versys motorcycles, two Honda 150cc dirt bikes, 22 spy cameras, 16 desktop computers, 13 laptops, five Wi-Fi access points, four night vision goggles, three solar panels, two DJI Mavic Air PRO3 drones, a DSLR camera, a video camera, and a multimedia projector. The items were procured through the Congress-Initiated Changes/Adjustment (CICA) Fiscal Year 2023.
Additionally, the Aklan PPO, Capiz PPO, Negros Occidental PPO, Guimaras PPO, and Iloilo City Police Office each received a single-cab 4×2 Toyota Hi-Lux patrol jeep and several tires. Several Honda 150cc dirt bikes were also distributed to the Aklan PPO, Capiz PPO, Negros Occidental PPO, and Iloilo PPO.
Tires were also provided to the Bacolod City Police Office and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 6. The Regional Forensic Unit (RFU) 6 received 5,000 drug testing kits.
Wanky said the vehicles and drug testing kits were issued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters.
Last month, PRO-6 also distributed combat and mobile equipment to various police offices in the region. Wanky emphasized that the equipment was allocated to the units that needed them most. He reminded the recipients to use the equipment and vehicles judiciously.
