Promoting employees’ welfare through Family Welfare Program

Seventy-five (75) participants from different establishments across all business sectors in Negros Occidental gathered for the General Assembly of the Family Welfare Association of Negros Occidental (FWANO) held last March 30, 2023 at Nature’s Village Resort, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

FWANO was established to support the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Western Visayas’ Family Welfare Program by promoting workers’ quality of life by adopting a family-centered approach in the workplace.

It introduces the concept of family welfare to establishments with focus on the programs 10 dimensions which includes Reproductive Health and Responsible Parenthood; Education/Gender Equality; Spirituality or Values Formation; Income Generation / Livelihood / Cooperative Medical Health Care; Nutrition; Environment Protection; Hygiene and Sanitation; Sports and Leisure; Housing; and Transportation.

For the continuance of this purpose, the FWANO elected a new set of officers for the year 2023-2025, from the President down to its Board of Directors. The new set of officers is very well represented by the representatives from all business sectors.

The activity included a learning session wherein the New Inspection Framework was discussed to the participants. They were also re-oriented of the FWP with the emphasis that its implementation will improve the quality of life of their employees both in the workplace and at home which would possibly lead to higher production and lesser rate of attrition.

Additional topics on Financial Wellness, and Managing Generational Gap in the Workplace was also tackled to promote and efficient, effective and harmonious relationship in the workplace.
