The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Western Visayas will spearhead the 2020 Civil Registration Month (2020 CRM) in February 2020 with the theme, “Shaping Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) by Embracing New Trends in the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR).”
The annual celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 682 “Declaring the Month of February of Every Year as Civil Registration Month” affirmed by former President Corazon C. Aquino on January 28, 1991.
It seeks to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents.
In line with the month-long celebration with the advocacy of continuously supporting and improving the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, PSA-6 will conduct information dissemination activities such as info drives and symposia on Civil Registration in government agencies, schools and universities, and selected barangays in Western Visayas. Civil Registration flyers, primers and posters will be distributed to the public at designated locations throughout the period.
Refresher course and trainings on Civil Registration Laws and updates will also be conducted to various select groups.
PSA-6 Civil Registration focal persons and staff will engage in television and radio guestings and interviews to inform the public about the Civil Registration Month activities and to answer some queries and issues concerning civil registration.
PSA-6 will coordinate with the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) of the Local Government Units (LGUs) to support and participate in their conduct of Civil Registration related activities such as mass weddings, mobile registration activities, information dissemination campaigns, quizzes, poster-making and other similar contests and related activities.
The PSA hereby enjoins all agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government and LGUs, Government-owned or Controlled Corporations and the general public to actively support all activities and programs of civil registration and vital statistics in the country.
