PSA-6 to conduct WIDI survey

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Region 6 will conduct the 2022 Women and Information Communications Technology (ICT) Development Index (WIDI) Survey starting Jan 31, 2022 in the provinces and highly urbanized cities of Western Visayas.

The WIDI Survey, in collaboration with Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), is a nationwide survey focusing on women, girls and children, and ICT access and usage.

The survey is one of DICT’s several sectoral surveys to be conducted as part of its baseline series. It aims to provide information on how ICTs are used to expand women’s social, economic, and livelihood opportunities.

Data gathered is seen to provide information on women’s participation in the Digital Economy, particularly the use of ICTs and online digital platforms in employment, livelihood, and entrepreneurship.

Overall, the survey aims to obtain data on ICT access by women and girls in target households; to indicate extent of ICT use for education, employment, livelihood and entrepreneurship among women and girls; and to provide the evidence for ICT policy and planning focused on women and girls.

Western Visayas has 2,922 sample households – 389 in Aklan; 390 in Antique; 388 in Capiz; 192 in Guimaras; 394 in Iloilo City; 385 in Iloilo Province; 395 in Bacolod City; and 389 in Negros Occidental.

The households will be enumerated by 15 hired Statistical Researchers, and 7 hired Team Supervisors.

The personal interviews will be conducted using tablets with Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application.

PSA-6 is soliciting the public support and cooperation in the conduct of the said activities.

All collected data will be held strictly confidential in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
