PSA extends PhilSys registration services to the most remote barangay in Iloilo

The Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office recently completed the PhilSys Mobile Registration Activity in Barangay Atimonan, Janiuay, one of the most remote areas in Iloilo province.

Located in a mountainous region with no paved roads leading to the barangay, the journey to Barangay Atimonan posed unique challenges for the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) registration team.

Undeterred by the rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions, the team persevered the five-hour trek to Atimonan.

Upon arrival, the PSA team wasted no time in setting up a registration booth at Atimonan Elementary School. On the first day alone, 44 individuals from Atimonan registered.

Building on this initial success, the registration team conducted a comprehensive house-to-house registration campaign on their second day. Despite the challenging terrain, they diligently registered an additional 22 individuals, ensuring that no resident was left unregistered.

Understanding the unique circumstances faced by the residents of Barangay Atimonan, the provincial office took proactive measures to ease the process.

The ePhilIDs were pre-laminated prior to the trip, saving residents the burden of traveling to town for lamination and on the third day, the registration team distributed these prelaminated ePhilIDs, streamlining the process and delivering an added convenience to the community.

To address the holistic well-being of the community, a feeding program was organized. This initiative aimed to provide nourishing meals to the residents.

Additionally, the team distributed candies to the young children of Barangay Atimonan, spreading joy and creating memorable moments for the entire community.
