PSA Guimaras covers 192 Households for LFS April round

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office successfully interviewed the one 192 sample Households (Hhs) for the April round 2021 Labor Force Survey (LFS) which started on April 8.

The 192 pre-identified HHs in 12 Enumeration Areas (EAs) covered 12 barangays – Magsaysay (8HHs), Supang (16HHs), and Sto. Rosario (14HHs) in the Municipality of Buenavista; Balcon Maravilla (21HHs), Sta. Teresa (20HHs) and Morobuan (20HHs) in Jordan; Dasal (24HHs) and Sebaste (13HHs) were chosen in Sibunag; Lapaz (10HHs), Concordia Sur (16HHs), Poblacion (18HHs) in Nueva Valencia; and M. Chavez (12HHs) in San Lorenzo.

“The training for the LFS was conducted on April 5-7, 2021 then the enumeration started on the following day,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

The April Round 2021 LFS has rider questionnaires on the UN Women which aims to provide statistical information on the equal redistribution of unpaid care and domestic work between women and men in the households.

Losare also explained that the LFS aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.

The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population.

“Under Article 6, Rule 5 of RA10625 otherwise known as the statistical act of 2013, the PSA is mandated to prepare and conduct statistical sample surveys on all aspects of socio-economic life including agriculture, industry, trade, finance, prices and marketing information, income and expenditure, education, health, culture, and social situations for the use of the government and the public” Losare expounded.

The April round 2021 LFS involves the collection of data on labor participation rate, employment rate, unemployment and under employment rate in the province.

Losare also explained that the survey is conducted either through phone interview, online interview, or face-to-face interview using Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) or Pen-and-Paper Personal Interview (PAPI) with adherence to physical distancing and strictly following health protocol standards.

Losare thanked all the pre-identified sample households for their active participation that led to the timely completion of the survey, as well as in the provision of accurate and reliable data to the PSA’s hired Statistical Researchers (SRs).

“All information collected by the hired SRs from the sample households shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of Republic Act 10625,” she said.
