The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office won two major awards in the recently concluded 2019 PSA Awards Day during PSA 7th Anniversary Virtual Celebration with the theme PSA Embracing New Normal in the 4IR on Sept 12, 2020.
PSA-Guimaras again ranked No. 2 in Statistical Planning and Coordination and, for the first time, landed on top 5 in Information Dissemination.
“PSA-Guimaras was able to maintain its rank as second on the Statistical Planning and Coordination among eighty-one (81) provinces in the country, likewise, we were able to get on top 5 from last year’s 8th place on Information Dissemination Category,” Provincial Statistics Officer (PSO) Nelida B. Losare said.
The award on Statistical Planning and Coordination were rated through the number of coordination activities conducted at the local level; functionality of the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC); number of statistical issues/concerns resolved through resolutions, number of meetings conducted; involvement in inter-agency statistical committees; conduct of local advocacy activities on statistical standards and classification system, and conduct of National Statistics Month (NSM) activities.
Likewise, the award on Information and Dissemination Category were also measured through the number of researchers’ data requests served, publications prepared, data dissemination activities, maintenance of PSA-Guimaras website and social media accounts, maintenance of PSA-Library, and other dissemination activities conducted.
“We would also like to pay tribute to our media partners for helping us in disseminating our statistical releases and survey activities, which helped us to achieve the top 5 rank in information dissemination category,” Losare said.
The said awarding is the highlight of the 7th Anniversary virtual celebration of the PSA which aimed to acknowledge the outstanding performances of the regional and field offices and to recognize their accomplishments for the year, wherein winners were thoroughly determined by their accomplishments subject to the ratings provided for in the 2019 PSA Awards manual.
“Although PSA-Guimaras did not succeed in other categories, all our toils were paid off for garnering these awards and it is our pride and honor to be nationally recognized,” Losare said.
