PSA, Kabankalan City Close Statistics Month

Philippine Statistics Authority Negros Occidental personnel join City Civil Registry Office staff during the closing ceremony of the 35th National Statistics Month in Kabankalan City, with PSA Chief Statistical Specialist John F. Campomanes, Registration Officer II Edwin P. Guiking, and Birth Registration Coordinator Jesirie Marie B. Gedorio in attendance.

KABANKALAN CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Negros Occidental joined the City Civil Registry Office (CCRO) of Kabankalan City for the culmination of the 35th National Statistics Month.

The event took place on Oct. 30 at the Function Hall, Kabankalan City.

The theme of the event was “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation.”

Registration Officer II Edwin P. Guiking led the installation of the Philippine Civil Registry Information System (PhilCRIS).

PhilCRIS was introduced to partners, including lying-in clinics, birthing centers, hospitals, churches, and Kabankalan City Regional Trial Court Branch 61.

PhilCRIS is the latest version of the Civil Registry Information System.

The software supports civil registrars and other end-users. It enables the encoding of data from birth, marriage, and death certificates.

PhilCRIS facilitates data storage, record retrieval, printing of certified copies, and database management.

The CCRO also hosted its first quiz bee.

Birth Registration Coordinator Jesirie Marie B. Gedorio facilitated the quiz bee. The event included participation from all CCRO staff.

The quiz bee tested knowledge of civil registration laws and related issuances.

Chief Statistical Specialist John F. Campomanes of PSA delivered a speech to the participants.

Campomanes highlighted the importance of statistics in local civil registry operations.

He noted that statistics help maintain accurate records of vital events, essential for demographic analysis and planning.

The initiative was part of ongoing capacity development efforts. It aimed to enhance the CCRO’s understanding of statistics and best practices.

The event also promoted public awareness of the role of statistics in development planning.

The LCRO Kabankalan City is committed to improving civil registration services for its clients.
