PSA Negros Occidental Hosts First CRVS Quiz Bee

Participants from various schools in Negros Occidental compete in the first-ever On-the-Job Trainees (OJT) category of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Quiz Bee, held on February 25, 2025, at the PSA Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office, Bacolod City.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Negros Occidental successfully held the 35th Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Quiz Bee for On-the-Job Trainees (OJT) on February 25, 2025, at the PSA Provincial Statistical Office in Bacolod City.

Nineteen OJT students from various schools across Negros Occidental participated in the event, which aimed to promote awareness and understanding of CRVS processes and principles among college students.

The competition featured two rounds of ten questions each, testing the participants’ knowledge of civil registration and vital statistics.

Emerging as the champion was Claire Mae C. Dizon, representing Carlos Hilado Memorial State University – Fortune Towne. Eurica C. Abellar of Colegio de San Agustin – Bacolod secured second place, while Mikhail Molboc from the University of Saint La Salle – Bacolod finished third.

All participants demonstrated impressive knowledge and were awarded tokens and certificates of participation.

Mr. John F. Campomanes, Interim Regional Director, and Ms. Diesah S. Biaoco, Supervising Statistical Specialist, commended the students for their active participation.

“We hope this OJT category of the quiz bee will be held annually as it nurtures interest in CRVS and fosters a culture of data literacy and awareness,” said Campomanes.

The event was organized by Jalaica S. Quirante, who also served as the quiz master.

PSA-Negros Occidental expressed its enthusiasm for continuing the CRVS Quiz Bee next year, furthering its mission to engage students in the importance of civil registration and statistical literacy.
