In a collective celebration of love and commitment, staff from the Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office 6 (PSA RSSO 6) recently participated in a series of mass wedding events across the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras.
These mass weddings, part of the 34th Civil Registration Month, aim to legalize the status of children born to long-term cohabiting couples, as well as to strengthen family bonds through the formalization of marital unions.
These significant events, under the theme “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services,” saw PSA officials serving as guest speakers, imparting guidance and sharing inspirational messages with the newlyweds.
At San Enrique, Iloilo’s ceremony on February 15, 2024, Mayor Mediatrix P. Fernandez and the Local Civil Registrar Jerome P. Pabilona facilitated the unions. William G. Jaro from PSA RSSO 06 emphasized the integral role of marriage in fortifying family structures and the importance of civil registration in ensuring familial rights.
In the municipality of San Lorenzo, Guimaras, Statistical Specialist II Jean Lito N. Esapol highlighted the enduring nature of marriage, despite life’s inevitable challenges. He encouraged the 29 participating couples at the February 19, 2024, ceremony to center their relationships around Christ and to seek divine guidance.
Ajuy, Iloilo’s mass wedding on February 23, 2024, saw Administrative Officer IV Danny S. Leonor underline the shared efforts of the PSA and local government units in the success of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System. Leonor lauded the decision of cohabitating couples to marry, recognizing the legal and social benefits for their children.
The month-long celebration of love and civil registration involved numerous municipalities, each playing host to similar wedding events aimed at recognizing and regularizing the unions of many couples, bringing legal clarity to their statuses and that of their offspring.
