PSC Chairman William Ramirez volunteered both the Rizal Memorial and the PhilSports Complex, the two main PSC sporting facilities of the Philippines, as temporarily medical centers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the aim of helping the frontliners’ problem of overcrowded patients in various hospitals, Ramirez said that lending both main sporting facility centers can somehow help decongest hospitals.

Both the Rizal Memorial and the PhilSports Complex are currently under the observation of the Department of Public Works and Highways on how both facility centers can be used as medical help in the most convenient way.

It is initially planned that the PhilSports Complex’s Multi-Purpose Arena and track oval will be converted into field hospitals the same as the Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Ninoy Aquino Stadium, and the Rizal Baseball Stadium.

Ramirez added that their initiative to lend both facility centers were quick because both of them are government-owned so the Philippine gov’t has all the right to borrow it anytime.

“They are government facilities so we were already anticipating that it might come to that point,” said Ramirez.
